BACKSTORY
In 2026, after Deathsaurus had been defeated but before the Nine Generals
came to plague Earth, the Cybertron leadership decided that it would be a good
idea to station some Transformers at Jan's school permanently in case of future
attacks...after all, that boy was a magnet for trouble, and with the Illumina
II destroyed in space, he had no real defenders. However, Cybertrons and
Microns were in short supply after the devastating losses of Deathsaurus's
attack, so it was decided to create a trio of marginally intelligent drones
to guard the school, using a slightly more advanced and mellow version of the
brains Wheeljack gave the Dinobots.
The trio were designated as Guardbots, and given their own faction
insignia, a slightly "cute" version of the Cybertron insignia. All three
are the size of Microns (Micromasters) so as to not scare the children.
THOOM
Function: Ground Defense
Form: Dump Truck
"Thoom like making sandcastles."
THOOM is easily the least quick-thinking of the trio, although he has a great
deal of hardcoded defensive knowledge. He's something of an idiot-savant,
brilliant in devising defenses, but childlike otherwise. He's the strongest
and best-armed of the trio, however, and can move great masses in either mode.
His hands can withdraw to let his arms fire powerful concussion blasts intended
to drive a foe back or scatter formations, and these cannons are usable in his
dump truck mode as well. The shovel on his dump truck mode can be used to move
earth at high speeds, or ram through an armored wall.

VROOM
Function: Perimeter Scout
Form: Race Car
"Wow! Lookit neat stuff!"
VROOM thinks fast, but not very deep. He's like a hyperactive child, easily
distracted by new things, never having more than two links in a chain of
thought. Only one thing can hold his attention, and that's signs of danger.
While normally he uses his sensor array to look at everything and anything, he
will focus intensely on anything that might be an attacker. Lightly armed, he
relies on speed to get out of the way of an attack and go to warn the others.
In robot mode he has weak lasers he can fire from his eyes, and in car mode he
has two medium-range missiles. He can reach 400mph on level ground, and up to
100mph on even the roughest terrain.

ZOOM
Function: Air Defense
Form: Jet Fighter
"Situation Nominal. Continuing Pattern."
ZOOM has no personality to speak of, being more automata-like than the other
two. It's possible that he has a personality, but is A) hiding it in order to
seem more "grown up" or B) spends too little time on the ground with humans or
his fellows to have developed it much. ZOOM can fly at high subsonic speeds
and has sensors that let him detect incoming aircrafts 400 miles away.
Extremely ungainly in robot mode, he prefers to stay in jet form as much as
possible. He has a 40mm cannon mounted in his nose and usually carries a pair
of self-defense Sidewinder-style missiles in jet form. In robot mode, he can
direct jet exhaust through his arms to blow foes over.
